Spring Break has been very good to me. Although I expected slightly warmer temperatures, and didn't get a chance to lay out by the pool and start tanning season off right, I did get plenty more out of it than I ever could have anticipated. Surprisingly, though, it didn't turn out at all like I had expected. I figured that as soon as I got in town Friday morning, I'd hit the ground running and spend my week in DFW the usual way: parties, hanging out with friends, a little bit of shopping, and some family time sprinkled in here and there. However, I ended up spending the entire first weekend of my spring break strictly with family, and you won't hear me complaining about that! The rest of the week turned into a similar story. I ended up spending more time with my family, and mixing in small doses of family time here and there. It was a very relaxing and refreshing way to spend my week at home. However, I will say that I have officially decided to spice things up next year, seeing as though it will be my last (hopefully) college spring break, by making a big trip down to South Padre! :]
I've also been planning weddings, engagement parties, and bridal stuff with my sisters all week. I am so unbeleivably happy for them that I can hardly hold in my excitement at the next couple of years ahead. Things are finally coming together for my family, and I couldn't be more ecstatic about it!
April is going to be a full month for me. I have plans in place for every single weekend, while fitting in schoolwork during the week. I have a feeling that my sleeping in days are officially over, and now it's time to start doing work! But I must say that I am strangely at peace with it all. Call it the morning cup of coffee, call it an overwhelming eagerness, call it motivation, call it whatever. I am about to make the biggest push through a semester that I've ever made. BRING IT ON!!
And now for the most exciting news of all...I GOT A CAR!! My dad surprised me when I got home last Friday morning by saying that he wanted to go car shopping ASAP to find me a car. We found one (thanks to his awesome pre-search) immediately, and by Saturday evening I was sporting a cute 2003 Dodge Neon 4Door. I don't think there are words to describe the feeling I have when I sit behind the wheel of my new car. I think the only word that comes to mind is simply: independent. I haven't needed a car necessarily over the past 3 years in college, but I will say that I have a whole new range of opportunities waiting for me in Austin now. I no longer have to feel guilty about needing to go to the grocery store or pharmacy. I can finally visit my grandparents in Georgetown more often, and make trips to College Station to see Ashley. I have a freedom that lets me go whereever, whenever, and I am extremely thankful for that. My parents are so good to me! :)
