New Year, New You!

Alright, so I know I promise that I'll start blogging again and vow to keep up with it. However, I also tend to fail a lot at that promise. So this year I'm going to have this blog be my New Year's Resolution. I have a feeling that 2014 is going to be the best and most eventful year of my life and therefore I want to make sure that all of you are "in the know." So here's a small snapshot of what my life is like for the start of the new year.

New Car: That's right. About a week or so ago I finally broke down and purchased my first car. It's not brand new, but it's new to me. It's a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta with 23,000 miles on it and it is BEAUTIFUL. It has a sunroof, leatherette seats, a zippy engine, and it's the most gorgeous thing I own (besides my kitty, Jade, of course). I didn't necessarily need a new car, but I started looking before the Neon gave out so that I wouldn't be forced to make a rash decision out of desperation since the Neon was getting up there in mileage. I found the Jetta on CarMax and let me tell you, it was the easiest big kid purchase I've ever made. I searched their inventory, found the car I wanted, and called a representative. Before I had even seen the car in person, I had talked to the guy and got approved for exactly what I wanted to pay for each month. When I got to the dealership (with dad, of course), I test drove the car and fell in love. I double-checked to make sure the price was still valid and signed! It's beautiful, sleek, and a perfect way to start the new year in style.

New Job: After almost 4 years of dedication to Pluckers Wing Bar, I finally resigned a couple of days ago--December 29th, to be exact. It was a bittersweet and overwhelming decision, but I had to do what was best for me. On Thursday, January 2nd, I start my new job at Parker University (a chiropractic school) in their Seminars Department as a Registration Experience Coordinator. If you're an avid reader of my twin sister's blog you'll recognize the company's name. She works at Parker University in their Student Activities department. I'll be working closely with the Director of Seminars (a girl who I had undeniable professional chemistry with as soon as I interviewed for the gig) to humanize the registration  process. Parker puts on 3-4 professional Seminars each year across the country (and sometimes outside of the country!) for Chiropractors to attend and complete the hours they need to count for their continued education requirements. I'll be writing/editing the website to make sure that it looks appealing while making sure that attendees are having the easiest registration experience and maintaining their patronage for future seminars. The first seminar is in VEGAS and-you guessed it!- I'll be attending. I fly out January 7th. Yes, it's a tough life, but someone's got to lead it…

New Lifestyle: Since I will finally have a M-F 8-5 job, I will finally be able to have a "big kid" schedule. This means that I will be able to eat right, sleep right, and maintain a normal social schedule. I will finally have weekends off and will be able to schedule events throughout the year. No more having to request off a weekend 4 weeks in advance just to make it to a family friend's wedding or baby shower. I'll be able to reunite myself with the real world! I'm also really excited because, for those of you who don't know, I suffer from shift worker's disorder from working in the service industry for so long. I'm ready to get back onto a normal sleep schedule to finally kick the disorder! Yay.

Alright, so that's enough "newness" for now. I just want all of you to know that I am very excited for the coming year and I have a great feeling that 2014 will be MY year. Look for the hashtag: #Heather2014 to follow my accomplishments on Twitter!
